OUR ENSEMBLES
Our program has a variety of ensembles for our members to join that offer a unique educational experience and help advance our members to the next level. We are committed to excellence, undeniable passion, and limitless expectations.
MARCHING BAND
Hillsboro's most public ensemble, the Marching Band, performs at all home football games, several marching competitions, various school events, and several parades. Marching band is an after school activity, rather than a class, so we spend a lot of time together!
PEP BAND
Spend your Friday nights under the lights! Pep Band plays at all football games, and some basketball games with the sole purpose of "pepping" up the crowd. All members of the marching band play in the pep band during the fall semester. We're here to have a good time and support our Burros!
DRUMLINE
Drumline consists of the marching percussion; battery and front ensemble. This group of students is the life of the party at every event. Although Drumline is apart of the marching band, these students typically take on many additional "gigs", as they are highly admired within the Hillsboro community.
COLORGUARD
Color guard uses various equipment, including flags, rifles, and sabres, along with dance, to enhance the music of the marching band show. They tell the story to our music! Color guard performs with the marching band during football season, but come winter, these students are in the spotlight, competing in local winter guard circuits.
SYMPHONIC BAND
A performance based class. Open to all students. No prior experience needed. This band concentrates on developing basic musician skills such as tone production, rhythmic proficiency, intonation, and technical ability, as well as preparation and performance of concert band music.
ORCHESTRA
The Hillsboro Orchestra is comprised of students in grades 9-12 who share a common love for playing string instruments. A performance based class, open to all students. No prior experience needed. String Orchestra focusses on developing basic musician skills such as tone production, rhythmic proficiency, intonation, and technical ability.
